Civic By Design in partnership with the City of Belmont has conducted design workshops to create an alternate master plan for a 1000 acre tract along Lake Wilie in Belmont. The City of Belmont has been on the verge of approving plans for the development of a large tract of land that will have a dramatic effect on the city's long-term future. City of Belmont officials understand a rare opportunity to design a plan for such a significant 1000 acre tract comes once in the life of a city. The forum led by Belmont mayor and seminary professor Richard Boyce explores how form shapes character and community, both for better and for worse. Forum attendees participated in a special hands-on design workshop led by Tom Low exploring Civic By Design ideas for Belmont’s lakefront future.
